Neural Reset Therapy is a modern form of physical therapy which alleviates muscle pain by working directly with the nervous system. NRT is the result of the work of two great scientists, Sherrington and Pflüger, who investigated the nervous system more than a hundred years ago in order to discover its basic laws of operation. The Law of Reciprocal Inhibition and the Law of Symmetry have mostly been confined to the laboratory up until now. Neural Reset Therapy is a practical, fast, reliable way to apply these laws of physiology with this advanced type of manual therapy. All of our muscles are controlled by the nervous system. The proper application of NRT resets the nervous system in order to release a muscle from tension. After this release, the pain, knots, and tightness go away. Posture and joint mobility see significant improvement.
NRT differs from the more common methods of massage, chiropractic, and physical therapy. It does not involve the massaging of muscles. No deep pressure is necessary. There is no need to make prolonged physical contact with the muscle being reset- it can be done from the opposite side of the patient’s body. Mechanical, electrical or electronic devices are not used in this sort of therapy. No needles are used, and no drugs or natural substances are applied to the target area.
How does this therapy work? In your body, there are specialized bundles of nerves known as mechanoreceptors. These nerves respond to pressure, velocity, stretch, vibration, and other forces. When receptors detect changes, signals are sent to the spinal cord and then the brain. In NRT, the therapist stimulates the receptors in a specific muscle by having the patient stay in a fixed position or move in a particular direction. The therapist may also tap on a muscle so that receptors send a special message directly to the spinal cord. This message travels through the spinal integrating center, and it then resets the nervous system. This causes the muscle to become neurologically optimized. With this reset, the muscular pain and tension vanish almost immediately.
Would you benefit from NRT? If you suffer from neck/back pain, muscle spasms, headaches, Carpal Tunnel, TMJ, and quite a few other conditions, the answer may be yes. During every session, the therapist will check each area of your body to find any painful or tight areas. Resets are done for any dysfunctional muscles. These resets permit the muscles to go back to a healthy status.
